Jirga held to compensate North Waziristan shopkeepers

Sources relayed that the committee shall meet on weekly basis to ensure a speedy result

A jirga was held on Sunday in Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency (NWA) to discuss the prevailing issue pertaining to compensation of shopkeepers whose businesses were affected by the military operation, confirmed the political agent of NWA.

Essentially the issue relates to financial assistance provided to shopkeepers for the perishable commodities which were present in the shops before the operation began.

According to the political agent, it was decided that the committee of affected shopkeepers under the NWA PA shall make an estimate of the amount that needs to be compensated.



"The same shall be processed in the administrative chain for its speedy implementation," he said.

The representative of shopkeepers expressed their complete confidence in the administration and state for resolution of their problems.



They also expressed that these issues are local and can only be resolved by the state of Pakistan, but not by playing into the hands of those who don’t want to see the revival of peace or by chanting slogans against state institutions.

The Fata additional chief secretary, PA, Assistant PA, Anjuman Tajiran Pakistan President Ajmal Baloch, NWA GOC, civil and military officials, and Inter Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor attended the jirga.
