No matter what anyone says I won't comment on the judiciary: Saad Rafique

Says have worked selflessly for 70 years, if hurdles continue to arise will keep going in circles again and again

Railways Minister Saad Rafique has said that despite what anyone may say in regard to the Supreme Court he shall refrain from passing any observation, the Express News reported.

The federal minister was speaking to the media after inaugurating a new rake at the Rawalpindi Railway station.

"We have been working selflessly for the country for the last 70 years and if these hurdles continue to arise we will just keep going in circles again and again," he said.

"There has been a dearth of investment in the railways ever since Pakistan's inception which has led to the dire state of its current infrastructure ," he added.

"It is impossible to find a panacea to 65 years of apathy in a mere five-year period," the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said.

"To rectify this situation we need to progress at this rate for another ten years," he claimed.


He said that foreign investment for railways is imperative as the country could not bear the cost of raising the necessary funds internally.

"A cellular network has provided railway passengers the service of charging their phones during their journey," he said.

Rafique said that the railways has recorded losses of 30 billions rupees losses with an earning of 18 billion rupees.

"The railways have 118,000 pensioners with 73,000 employees and many sections have being running on losses just to provide transport to the masses," the federal minister apprised the media.
