Chinese embassy team reviews arrangements in Abbottabad

Diplomats from Chinese mission to take on Hazara division players on April 28

PESHAWAR: A high-level public security team from the Chinese embassy dashed to Abbottabad on Friday to prepare for the first-ever football exhibition match between the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sports DG XI and the Chinese Embassy XI.

The public security team reviewed security arrangements for the match at the Kunj Football Stadium where the organisers briefed them about the measures taken.

Members of the security team also met with the Abbottabad District Police Officer Ashfaq Anwar to discuss arrangements in this respect.

A Chinese football team comprising embassy staff is expected to take on football players from the Hazara region in the exhibition match at the Kunj Football Stadium in Abbottabad on April 28.

This will be the first time that such an exhibition match is going to take place in the area.

Meanwhile, Chinese Counselor Chen Wei expressed his satisfaction on arrangements made for the match.

“We equally give due weight to the event, which is first of its kind arrangement – both on part of the Chinese Embassy and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.

He also referred to the importance of Abbottabad.

“Abbottabad enjoys the twin city status with Kashghar of China,” he reminded. He expressed the confidence that citizens of Abbottabad will turn out in large numbers to witness the match.

On the other hand, the organizers of the exhibition match have announced the names of the captains of their respective teams.

The Chinese Embassy team will be led by their Political Counselor Jiang Han while the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa DG Sports XI will be represented by Malik Ejaz Ahmad.

The final lineups of the teams’ along with names of the officials and referees will be notified on April 25.
