Lack of job opportunities

Letter April 21, 2018
The government must revisit its policies and allow all degree holders to apply for the jobs

SHIKARPUR: The Sindh government has recently announced vacancies for posts in the education department and the anti-corruption sector. It is a really good step taken by the government to curb unemployment. However, these positions are limited to only few degree holders. Those who apply for the education department jobs must be Bachelor in Education (BEd) and for anti-corruption they must have a Bachelor in Law (LLB) degree.

This raises questions for the provincial government, as only a simple graduation degree is needed to sit for the prestigious CSS competitive examination. Besides, all kinds of Bachelors degree holders can sit the competitive examinations for Provincial Civil Services. Why are the jobs offered by the Sindh government limited to those having only BEd and LLB degrees?

The Sindh government should set its standard in line with the CSS and PCS. The youth of Sindh have only gotten these job opportunities after a long time. The government must revisit its policies and allow all degree holders to apply for the jobs on offer.
