Coal miner killed, three injured in explosion

Officials say the injured were residents of Qilla Saifullah

QUETTA: A miner was burnt to death while three others sustained injuries in an explosion in a coal mine in the Duki district on Thursday.

According to details, workers were taking out coal from the mine when poisonous gas accumulated there, which resulted in an explosion.

As a result, a miner Muhammad Ayub died of burn injuries, while three others Muhibullah, Azizullah and Haqdad sustained serious burn injuries.

The local administration rushed to the site and shifted the deceased and the injured to a nearby hospital, where later on the injured were referred to Quetta for further treatment.

Officials said the injured were residents of Qilla Saifullah and the deceased was a resident of the same area where the incident took place, adding the body was handed over to the family. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
