Water woes persist

Residents have been facing more problems than before

KARACHI: With the chief justice of Pakistan ordering the Karachi Sewerage and Water Board to take responsibility for providing water to those who had previously been paying private tankers, residents have been facing more problems than before.

To follow this new rule, residents who have no piped water supply have to wake up early in the morning to go to the area the KWSB is providing government-owned water tankers to register their name. The office is only open for two hours so one has to be early and quick. Or else be prepared to stay without water for a day or two — really depends on your luck.

Once you have your number registered, you wait for the all so important call from the driver delivering you gold (read: water) to ask for your address. And mind you they will only call two times, if you happen to miss the first call. So you have to be around your phone 24/7. And God forbid you miss the calls due to an emergency, you get no water as it is then delivered to someone else.
