Karachi minor rape, killing suspects sent on remand

Two separate FIRs on minor's abduction and killing lodged with police

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday sent suspects allegedly involved in the recent rape and killing of a minor in Karachi on a seven-day physical remand.

The men were produced before a city court a day after the six-year-old's body was recovered from bushes near Northern Bypass in Manghopir area. Relatives of the deceased said the child had gone missing on April 15 from her Orangi Town residence. Two separate FIRs on the minor's abduction and killing have been lodged with Orangi Town and Manghopir police respectively.



On Tuesday, a protest demonstration against police 'incompetence' turned violent. At least one person died in ensuing clashes between citizens and police.

Later, police claimed to have nabbed two of three suspects named by relatives of the deceased. The third remains at large.
