LAHORE: NAB Lahore has handed over a cheque of Rs6.101 million to the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC). The amount was recovered in a plea bargain from a builder and consultant who were charged with substandard work in the construction of the NTC regional office building.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the NAB complex on Tuesday. NTC Managing Director Viqar Rashid Khan received the cheque from NAB Lahore Director General Saleem Shahzad as the first installment out of the Rs19 million settlement.

“It is the first installment on account of recovery pertaining to irregularities in the construction of the regional office building,” a spokesman for the NTC said. He said the NTC managing director has appreciated the efforts of the NAB team for their hard work and professional commitment.

After joining the NTC in 2012, Viqar Rashid Khan observed serious irregularities and substandard work in construction of the NTC regional office building in Lahore.
