LAHORE: With only few months left to the dissolution of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures, we are witnessing a change in political loyalties. Many politicians and members of several political parties change and switch their loyalties to other groups primarily on the pretext of securing lucrative positions in the next government.
To bar members from switching loyalties only weeks before the general elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan should take appropriate measures. As when voters are procedurally required to get themselves registered months before the elections, the contestants and party-ticket holders too should also be bound not to change their parties at least a year before the polls.
