Nawaz, Maryam leaving for London on Wednesday to visit ailing Kulsoom
Nawaz Sharif's wife is undergoing treatment for cancer for the last one year
ISLAMABAD:
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz, is flying to London on Wednesday to attend his wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing cancer treatment in Britain’s capital.
Recently, some reports surfaced that Kulsoom was not feeling well as her health deteriorated following intensive chemotherapy sessions.
Sources in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said that Nawaz and Maryam may request the accountability court for exemption from hearing scheduled on Friday and would be back by Monday to attend another hearing.
In case the exemption is not granted, they would return by Friday to attend the hearing.
Federal govt not ready to place Sharif’s family on ECL
Few weeks back, the National Accountability Court (NAB) approached the federal government to put the name of former PM Sharif on ECL following his pending trial ordered by the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case but the government did not comply with the NAB’s demand.
Maryam in a tweet on Tuesday said that her mother was hospitalised again and has asked well-wishers to pray for her health.
Earlier in January, Kulsoom successfully went through her fifth chemotherapy session in London. She is undergoing treatment for cancer in the United Kingdom (UK) for the last one year.
Few months ago, she underwent a surgery to remove lymph nodes.
Despite being away from the country, she won the by-election for NA-120 Lahore after Sharif’s disqualification from public office in the Panama Papers case.
She has not yet taken oath as Member National Assembly (MNA).
