MUZAFFARABAD: At least seven people were killed on Tuesday in two separate road accidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Five people, including four women, lost their lives when a Garhi Dupatta-bound car fell into a ditch at Hariala Gujran while negotiating a sharp curve.

Those who died in the accident were identified as Parveen Bibi, Samina Bibi, Shahnaz Bibi and Mehmooda Bibi while one woman was admitted to CMH Muzaffarabad in a critical condition.

All those who died and got injured belonged to the same family.

Local people rushed to the accident site and retrieved the bodies and the injured from the wreckage of the car despite heavy rain in the area.

Constable dies, 20 injured

Separately, two persons were killed and 11 others wounded in a collision between a Muzaffarabad-bound coaster and a passenger bus at Patika Bazaar. The dead were identified as Abdul Aziz and Haroon Yakoob.

According to eyewitnesses and police, the accident took place due to brake failure in one of the vehicles. Local administration officials and Pakistan Army personnel rushed to the site and participated in the rescue operation. They shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.
