New ministers get portfolios

The eight new members of Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan’s cabinet were allocated portfolios on Monday.
According to a notification issued by the Services & General Administration Department, Raja Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Khan has been assigned the portfolio of Auqaf and Religious Affairs; Raja Muhammad Naseer Khan, Local Government and Rural Development; Chaudhry Javed Akhtar, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights; Chaudhry Masood Khalid, Civil Defence; Yaseen Gulshan, Zakat & Usher.
Among others, Ahmed Raza Qadri has given the portfolio of State Disaster Management Authority; Muhammad Ishaq the Ministry of Prisoners; Waqar Ahmed Noor the Ministry of Planning and Development.
Minister for Revenue Farooq Sikandar Khan has been given additional charge of the Population Welfare Department.
According to sources, some of the newly-inducted ministers are not happy with the allotted portfolios and will take up the matter with the prime minister on his return from abroad.
