Classes in the school called “The Gender Guardian” will commence from April 20. So far, more than 60 transgender students have enrolled in the school. They appreciated the efforts of Exploring Future Foundation (EFF) to establish a separate school where the transgender community could learn new skills while acquiring an education.
Transgender persons will initially be trained in eight fields by experts. These include cooking, beautician courses, fashion designing, tailoring and other skill-based courses. After the completion of training, transgender people will be provided funds and services for the establishment of their own businesses.
In the second phase, education will be provided to younger transgender persons.
EFF CEO Asif Shahzed told The Express Tribune “We received more response than we expected in the charity show as people really appreciated the measures taken for setting up of the school.”
He added more than 60 transgender students have enrolled in the school and now “we have to wait and see how many actually attend classes”.
