Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) suffered another blow on Sunday as lawmaker Sumeta Syed joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

Flanked by the MQM-P member provincial assembly and Anees Qaimkhani, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal made the announcement at a press conference at the Pakistan House in Karachi.

During the presser, Kamal announced that PSP’s doors are shut for MQM-P’s Farooq Sattar. He claimed that the PSP is not behind what has been happening with MQM-P recently.

"Farooq Sattar called minutes before the Senate elections [last month] begging Anee Qaimkhani for votes," he said, adding that Sattar also approches PSP for his rallies.

The MQM-P leader on Saturday reiterated that his party members were being threatened and forced to join Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), claiming there were conspiracies being hatched to end the MQM-P.

Sattar refuted impressions that party leaders are jumping ship due to internal rifts.

Adding that mistrust is being sown in members loyal to the party for the past 38 years, Sattar said it will not persist.

On March 24, Kamal said that Sattar had requested to see Qaimkhani without Kamal. The meeting was arranged at Sattar’s friend in the district east. The PSP chief also vowed that Sattar had assured him that he would once 'bluff' Mahajirs in the name of Kite and MQM.
