Locals start campaign to raise funds for hospital supplies in Charsadda

Withdrawal of fuel funds leads to long blackouts in emergency ward

SHABQADAR: Local residents of Charsadda started a charity campaign to raise enough funds to repair a lone hospital ambulance and provide a local hospital with necessary supplies.

The residents, led by ANP leader Sadaqat Ali Abbasi started a campaign at Charsadda main market and were collecting money for repairing the damaged ambulance on Saturday morning.

The leader of the charity campaign told the media that after collecting money for the hospital ambulance and funds for other hospital necessities, for Charsadda District Head Quarter Hospital, the remaining funds will be handed over to Charsadda Deputy Commissioner (DC) for fulfilling the hospital’s supply needs, as the hospital officials have been unable to procure the necessary funds to fulfill the medical establishment’s basic requirements.

Bringing the hospital to the people

Upon hearing of this campaign Charsadda District Nazim Fahad Riaz reached the site at main market and ordered that the repair of the ambulance would take place from the district government fund, and directed the organiser to shut down any further activities related to the campaign, an instruction which was obeyed.

However, according to medical officials, Charsadda District Head Quarter Hospital already has ambulances and a request has already been written to relevant authorities for repairing the ambulance which the campaign was started for. The restoration work for which is presently in process.
