Sources said, “The woman and her child died in the hospital due to absence of lady doctors as none of the staff was presented to handle the maternal case.”

Friday’s case was the second one in Dera Bugti as on March 25 a mother and child from Loti area of Dera Bugti died due to lack of lady doctors present in the DHQ hospital.

“There are seven vacant posts for lady doctors in our hospital but due to lack of residential quarters, none are willing to serve here,” said Medical Superintendent Dera Bugti Dr Azam, adding that there were no operation theatres to treat serious patients.

Residents of Dera Bugti and its adjacent localities were compelled to shift their patients to Multan for better medical care.
