The ECP, through a notification, banned all new recruitment in government departments in the wake of upcoming general elections in July.
During Friday’s hearing on the petition, Kamran Murtaza Advocate and Noor Jan Buledi Advocate contended that the ECP had crossed its limit by imposing ban on new recruitment in government departments.
“The government is ending its tenure in May, but the ECP has banned all new recruitment in government departments too early, which is not justified,” the government lawyers said in their petition.
Following the petition, the BHC bench issued summonses to ECP representative, deputy attorney general and advocate general of Balochistan to appear before it on April 16.
