Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took notice of the alleged rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Chichawatni, according to reports.
The deceased was burnt after being raped. The girl was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Taking notice of the incident, CJP Nisar ordered Punjab IG Arif Nawaz to present a report in 24 hours. Protests rocked Chichawatni on Tuesday following the incident.

Relatives said the mentally-challenged child was taken to the Chichawatni DHQ before being shifted to Lahore's Jinnah Hospital. Muhammad Younus, who works at the burns unit of the facility, said the child received burn injuries on her face, chest and private parts.
An FIR of the incident has been registered.
