No place for extremism in Islam: al-Draiweesh

IIUI president says books continue to hold important place in disseminating knowledge

Muslim societies have been facing negative propaganda which must be dealt by letting the world know that Islam is a religion of peace and there is no place for terrorism and extremism in Islam, said IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif al-Draiweesh.

Speaking at the inauguration of six-day annual book fair organised by the Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commenced at Faisal Masjid Campus, he highlighted importance of acquiring education and knowledge in Islam.

“Knowledge is of vital importance in Islam as first revelation starts with the word ‘Iqra’ which means read,” he said.

Saudi clerics say no place for terrorism in Islam

As many as 50 publishers from across the country have set their book stalls in Dawah Book Fair which will continue till April 16 and books are being sold at 50% discounted rates.

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) Director General Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri inaugurated the ninth annual book fair of IIUI along with IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif al-Draiweesh.
