KARACHI: Pakistani left-handed batsman Fawad Alam was named in a 25-player list which will be a part of the initial Test Camp scheduled between April 11 and 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The camp is being conducted to finalise the squad for a one-off and two Tests against Ireland and England respectively in May.

Fawad, 32, is currently Pakistan’s best domestic batsman with an average of 55.37 in first-class cricket and has piled up 10,742 runs in just 145 outings.

The left-handed batsman also recently bested most of national team’s mainstays after he scored 19 in the yo-yo endurance test at the National Cricket Academy on Tuesday.

His score of 19 was just two shy of the wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan who topped the chart with a score of 21. Right-handed batsman Asad Shafiq was second with a score of 20.

Pacer Hasan Ali, and batsmen Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman were the fourth best with scores of 18.

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed scored 17.4 in the test.

“The test was held before the selection for the Test squad and also before announcing the central contracts,” a source informed The Express Tribune.

On the other hand, the coaches were not satisfied with the fitness test left-arm pacer Usman Khan Shinwari and he will be allowed another chance to prove his fitness.
