Mushaira, storytelling top features of AIOU literary carnival

ISLAMABAD:
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will arrange variety of programmes of students' interest at the three-day literature festival scheduled to begin on Friday.

The admission for participation in the event will be free and open, said an AIOU statement on Monday. The programmes include a grand mushaira (poetry recitation), dastan goi (story telling) and bait bazi (verse versus verse) besides speeches and seminars.

There will be a number of books' stalls and education related activities too, to promote literature and academic research. The literary carnival is also part of the university's regular activities to promote healthy and positive activities. The event will also project community-academia interaction. It will also be an occasion
of promoting development and management of the AIOU’s library.


The carnival will provide both education and entertainment to the students, the statement said. It will be the second such event, to be held on annual basis.

During the festival, round-table and panel discussion will also be arranged to project English and Urdu literature for interest of the students and researchers.

Various departments of the AIOU including faculties of education, sciences, social sciences and Islamic studies will brief the visiting students about the new academic programs.
