Kumail Nanjiani cast in upcoming comedy ‘Stuber’

He will reprise the role of an Uber driver

Comedian-actor Kumail Nanjiani is all set to share screen space with Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, in Fox's upcoming comedy Stuber.

Nanjiani will play the role of a mellow Uber driver who picks up a police man (Bautista) that is working the most dangerous case of his career that night, reported Variety.

Produced by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the film's title is inspired by the driver’s name, Stu.

Michael Dowse is directing the script from Tripper Clancy. Jake Wagner and Nick Thomas are executive producing. Jeremy Kramer is overseeing for Fox.

Bautista joined Stuber's cast in December. He was seen in Guardians of the Galaxy and Blade Runner 2049, last year.

Nanjiani played the role of an Uber driver in his film The Big Sick too. The semi-autobiographical comedy recounts his real-life courtship with Emily Gordon.

Nanjiani and Gordon, who tied the knot in 2007, were honoured with an Academy Award and a Writers Guild Award nomination in the original script category this year. The Big Sick also won the best first screenplay trophy at the Spirit Awards.

Nanjiani, who is of Pakistani descent, moved to America when he was 18. He stars in HBO's Silicon Valley which returned for its fifth season late March.
