PPP’s bad governance

Letter April 09, 2018
Larkana should be an eye opener for the PPP leadership

LARKANA: On April 3rd, I went to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Uinversity, Civil Hospital in Larkana to inquire after the health of a relative admitted to the orthopaedic ward. I was shocked beyond belief after having seen the appalling conditions in the ward.

The stench was overpowering, almost unbearable and the basic infrastructural conditions of the ward were also highly depressing. Patients had brought pedestal fans, quilts and pillow cases from their own homes. There was also no dustbin in sight. How can patients recover in such an unhealthy environment?

Considering this state of mismanagement and carelessness, one can only have doubts about the reliability of the diagnostic process being carried out at the health facility. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the PPP have been lashing out at other provincial governments over their incompetence and lack of public service delivery. But they are blind to their own poor governance in Sindh.

The unhygienic conditions in which patients are being treated in the divisional headquarters hospital, Larkana should be an eye opener for the PPP leadership. The appropriate approach for the Sindh government would be to put their own house in order and then criticise other political parties over their poor performance.
