The Chief Justice of Pakistan  Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday said that he will ensure everyone is held accountable for their actions and each and every penny will be accounted for over water corruption.

Hearing the case on clean water corruption scandal, CJP remarked that the people of Pakistan will get their money back.

A two-member bench under the CJP heard the suo motu notice case of clean water in the Lahore registry. The CJP rejecting the report submitted by clean water company’s chief executive officer summoned prosecutor general National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on April 14.

The chief secretary Punjab admitted to spending Rs4 billion rupees in the clean water company and said that despite incurring an expenditure of Rs4 billion on the project, the citizens have not been able to avail a single drop of water.

Water, water everywhere, not a drop to drink

The CJP remarked that everyone will be held accountable. He said that money will also be recovered from those who appointed people, saying that as long as his judiciary is present, no recommendation or bribe will be acceptable.

He questioned why Zaeem Qadri’s brother Asim Qadri and wife Uzma Qadri were included in the board of directors.

The CJP noted that with a salary of Rs1.4 million, government employees were being rewarded so that they too can be used for their advantage. He pointed out that so much money was being spent on advertisement campaigns but the projects were not being completed.

He further warned that this is public’s money which will be returned to the national treasury.

The former CEO of safe water, Waseem Ajmal informed that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif despite not having any powers gave instructions in the safe water company and it was on his advice that foreign experts were called in after sidelining local experts.
