Rallies held across AJK to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day

‘US and global powers should break their silence to put pressure on New Delhi for durable solution on Kashmir dispute’

Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to express solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and condemn the on-going state terrorism by the Indian army.

The Kashmiri people held rallies, functions, and processions were held in different parts of the state to register their protest against the Indian atrocities and highlight the need for a peaceful resolution of the long-standing dispute.

The rally started from District Complex to Press Club where speakers urged the international community to come forward for the permanent settlement of Kashmir dispute. The protest rally was addressed by members of the British House of Lords, Lord Nazir Ahmad, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and leaders of different political parties.

Lord Ahmad said that India’s inflexible attitude could put the whole region‘s peace and security at stake.

“The United States and other global powers should break their silence and come forward to put pressure on New Delhi to find a durable solution of longstanding Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” Lord Ahmad added.


He said that it is time to raise the Kashmir dispute at international level and added that without the solution of Kashmir as per the wishes of Kashmiris, “nobody can guarantee permanent peace in South Asia.”

AJK Prime Minister Farooq Haider on the occasion said that Kashmiri national will witness the dawn of freedom very soon.

“This is the only nation on the planet, which sacrificed the vision for the freedom struggle and the day will come when people of AJK will celebrate Independence Day in Srinagar and Jammu,” he said.

Farooq Haider said, “Today (Saturday), an All Parties Conference (APC) of all AJK political and religious parties here will decide how we can expose the rising human rights violations and state terrorism in IOK.”

Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed today

Pro-freedom and anti-India rallies were also taken out in Sudhanoti, Neelum, Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, and other districts on the day. Absentia funeral prayers were also offered in all mosques across the region following Friday prayers.
