Rift in MQM-P continues
Senior party members not on same page
KARACHI:
A meeting of the leadership of both factions of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) was held at the residence of a senior party member on Thursday.
The leaders of both the groups had been in contact and had agreed to find solutions to the issues.
Leaders of the PIB group Dr Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Suhail Mansoor, Abdul Waseem, Shaikh Salahuddin and others were present in the meeting, while from the Bahadurabad group Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Amir Khan, Waseem Akhtar, Kunwar Naveed, Faisal Subzwari participated.
MQM-P groups fails to reconcile
According to sources, leaders of both groups expressed their reservations in the meeting.
Dr Farooq Sattar suggested to dissolve the Rabita committees of both the factions and advised to setup an adhoc committee jointly headed by himself and Khalid Maqbool. However, the Bahadurabad group rejected the proposal. Bahadurabad group also objected to the party membership of Kamaran Tessori.
Dr Farooq Sattar rejected these objections and said that Tessori was an important party member.
MQM-P internal rifts on the mend as Sattar visits Bahadurabad HQ
Sources claim both the groups stuck to their positions which resulted in an impasse.
Bahaudurabad group also rejected Dr Farooq Sattar’s suggestion of forming a 10-member coordination committee for each group.
Sources reveal that senior party member Waseem Akhtar had an exchange of unpleasant words with the participants of the meeting. The members of the committee left without any solution.
However, the situation has benefited Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) as members of MQM-P are parting ways and joining hands with PSP.
