KARACHI: The Sindh Police claimed on Thursday that a couple was murdered before the suspects set their house ablaze in Karachi’s Korangi Zaman area.

According to the police, Shahid and Shamim, who lived alone since the marriage of their daughter, were killed with a sharp weapon. The couple, who ran a home-business, seem to have been killed over personal enmity, said police.

However, Masood Khan, Shahid’s relative, claimed that cash and jewellery were also missing from the house. Another relative Asif said the house was ransacked.

In a similar incident, four family members, who reportedly died in a ‘house fire’ in Lahore on March 17, were allegedly murdered before setting on fire, according to a hospital post-mortem report.

According to Express News, police authorities in the Satto Kutla area said the investigation into the ‘mysterious’ murder of a husband, wife and their two young children in Wapda Town had taken the investigation in a new direction.

The initial post mortem report said that throats of both the children were slashed.

A sharp weapon was used to cut Amina and Sher Ali’s throat while their mother Saba was strangled to death. The children’s unemployed father, Sarfaraz, died due to burning.
