Bollywood celebs lend support to Salman Khan following court decision

'He should be given relief. He has done a lot of humanitarian work,' said Jaya Bachchan

A Jodhpur court on Thursday sentenced Salman Khan to two years in jail and a fine of INR50,000 in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were also accused in the same case but were not found guilty, reported CNN.

Twitter, of course, has been ablaze ever since the verdict was announced this morning.

Many Bollywood celebs came forward to lend support to the Dabangg star.

Arjun Rampal:

The law takes its course. Can’t argue it. But at this point in time I just feel helpless and my heart goes out to @BeingSalmanKhan and his family. Reason, cause the last thing @BeingSalmanKhan is, is a criminal.I feel this is too harsh. I do hope he gets the relief he deserves.

Others felt that the two-year sentence was a bit too harsh.

Salman Khan had to visit Jodhpur for 20 years on regular basis for case hearings, He has suffered enough. Though Law is equal for all , but i feel Salman doesn’t deserve to go in Jail. Hope upper court will dismiss the lower court verdict . 😔#BlackBuckPoachingCase

After 20yrs #SalmanConvicted by the lowest court. He will get bail & will appeal in High court. HC will give verdict aftr 10-15yrs then again bail and then appeal in SC, say 20-30 more years to end. In the end court will say the Poor Deer committed suicide
