“Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC) has set a new standard of public service,” he said speaking at the inauguration of the new office of Union Council No33, Markaz G-8.
Mayor Aziz said that IMC came into being for the first time in the history of Islamabad and responsibility of the development of city has been assigned to the elected representatives of the local government through the municipality.
He said IMC is fully functional and committed to provide the best ever civic amenities.
CDA installs 21,000 LED street lights in capital
He expressed his hope that residents of the federal capital would feel a pleasant change in the availability of civic amenities. “IMC has worked out a plan to convert the existing street light system into LED light system, which will help reduce electricity charges,” Aziz said.
Regarding the water situation Aziz said: “Due to shortfall of rain, people are facing drop in water supply.”
However, the mayor said, better water management in the upcoming rainy season will help improve the water supply situation.
As for current problem, he directed the Water Management Wing to ensure provision of water tanker service in the areas with acute water shortage.
MCL to replace existing street lights with LEDs in Lahore
Aziz directed chairmen of all union councils to attend their offices on daily basis and observe punctuality so that the issues of the people could be resolved.
On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi, UC No33 Chairman Raja Waheedul Hassan, UC Sector I-9 Chairman Chaudhry Riffat Javed, Sardar Mehtab Advocate and elected chairmen of different UCs were also present.
