Terror exaggeration

Letter April 05, 2018
The possible exaggeration can have dire consequences for Pakistan and its already tarnished image

LAHORE: The UN terror list, listing banned militant groups and organisations, has 139 entries from Pakistan. The list consists of various branch-outs of the Jamaatud Dawa and Tehreek-e-Taliban. It has also names of over a dozens of individuals who are believed to be hiding in the border regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, as the list does not state the source or the reasons for the claims made other than the understood fact that it has been developed on the basis of mere intelligence input, the possible exaggeration can have dire consequences for Pakistan and its already tarnished image in the global community.
