ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested on Wednesday a man in Islamabad impersonating the graft buster's director.

"Intelligence Wing of NAB has arrested impersonator Jamil Ahmed on blackmailing people by declaring himself as a director of NAB," said a statement by the bureau.

According to preliminary reports, the communique added, Ahmed used to demand money for closing the cases against those accused by the bureau. He blackmailed government officers and other individuals.

Fake security officials apprehended

The anti-corruption authority further said the accused had admitted his offence after his arrest, saying legal action is being taken against him.

In January this year, Islamabad police arrested two suspects impersonating law enforcement officials. Similarly, last year, Rawalpindi police booked a gang impersonating officials of Federal Investigation Agency.

The suspects were involved in robberies, and used to loot gold, cash, mobile phones and other valuables.
