An Indian woman was fortunate to be alive after she fought off a tiger which attacked her goat.

Rupali Meshram, 23, rushed out of her house when she heard her goat scream. According to doctors, Meshram was lucky to survive the fight off.

Upon seeing her goat being attacked, the 23-year-old used a stick to hit the tiger, which then attacked her. Meshram's mother, who was also attacked by the tiger, saved her daughter by dragging her inside the house.

Moments after the incident, which happened last week but has only been reported recently, the young woman took a selfie with her mother.  The doctor who treated Meshram, lauded her courage and presence of mind but also remarked that she was lucky not to have been bitten by the tiger.

Further, since the wounds on her head, arms and torso were not very critical, she has made a speedy recovery, according to BBC News.

"I thought my daughter was going to die," her mother, Jijabhai told BBC Hindi's Sanjay Tiwari, adding that she had been horrified to see her blood-stained daughter trying to fend off the tiger with a stick.
