PESHAWAR: The guards of the family park severely tortured a Christian boy and his Sikh friends, including a girl when these children went to the park for Easter celebrations on Monday night.

Talking to The Express Tribune the Christian boy Shahmeel said that it was Easter and he and his Sikh friends decided to celebrate the occasion by going to the family park.

“We were three boys and two girls. We wanted to celebrate but the guards stopped the ladies at the entrance saying that taking girl friends to the park is not allowed,” Shahmeel said, adding that the guard also questioned the girls about their relationship to the boys, which enraged them.

Easter celebrations turn violent as three wounded in squabble with guards of Peshawar's Chacha Younus Park

He further added that at this point the guards started slapping one of the girls and then eventually started attacking him and his other friends too, leaving one of them with a dislocated shoulder and another with a head injury. Soon after, more guards came and physically assaulted them but no one came to their rescue, despite the police being deployed nearby.

However, according to the police, once they reached the spot, they arrested all three guards at the main entrance.
