PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the K-P environment protection agency to visit the entire route of the under-construction Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) twice a day and report the environmental impact of the dust blowing in the area.

A two-judge bench of PHC comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Syed Afsar Shah hearing an application directed Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Director General Ihsanul Haq to increase watering of roads from three to six times a day to settle down the dust.

A complainant has told the court that dust blowing from the dug up area has posed health hazard to the population.

However, for the time being, people of Peshawar were to bear more dust pollution. “We have started asphalting of the main corridor of the BRT on reach one and reach three due to which watering of the roads has been stopped technically,” Ihsan Ul Haq, DG PDA told the court.
