Audience could not decide if they should raise the hands or to keep them down

KARACHI: Public speeches by politicians sometimes provide the much-needed comic relief for the masses who normally embroiled in intense and dry political rhetoric in the country.

While addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat valley on Sunday, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif was firing broadside at the main political opponents, including the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as usual when a sudden series of questions from the orator puzzled the entire crowd.

In a bid to gather public support over the Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify him from being the prime minister of the country and heading his party, Sharif asked his supporters if they would accept the top court’s verdict.



The audience was baffled when he repeated the question at least twice. They could not decide if they should raise the hands or to keep them down.

Some of those present behind the PML-N supreme leader on the stage, including local party leader Amir Muqam, were also caught by surprise and their expressions and gestures were priceless.

Addressing the rally, Sharif claimed that seeing the poor performance of the provincial government, the whole K-P will support the PML-N in the upcoming election.

Taking a jibe at the Imran, Sharif alleged that the former had embezzled money in the million tree plantation campaign.

“They should take lesson from the development in Punjab during the past five years but unfortunately Imran Khan spent his entire tenure in sit-ins and hurling accusations at others,” he said.
