Punjab government provides interest-free loans to 314,000 farmers

MULTAN: The Punjab government has provided interest-free loans to 314,000 farmers in the province with the objective to promote the agriculture sector and provide relief to the farming community.

Agriculture Department Assistant Information Director Naveed Asmat Kohloon said the Khadim-e-Punjab Kissan Package was heading forward with a rapid pace.

He added, “The government has enhanced the credit limit to farmers who possess 50 acre of land.”

He added due to different measures taken by the Punjab government, the growth rate in agriculture sector was being observed at 5.75% and it was mainly due to the credit schemes of the Punjab government.

Kohloon elaborated that loan amount of Rs40,000 was being provided to farmers against one acre Khareef crops. Similarly, he maintained that Rs25,000 was being provided for Rabi crops.
