ASA elections begin at PU
Teacher’s Front Academic Alliance (TFAA) has nominates Dr Mahboob Hussain for president

The annual elections of the Academic Staff Association (ASA) at Punjab University (PU) will be held on Tuesday.
Polling will be held at Waheed Shaheed Hall at the Institute of Education and Research (IER). Approximately 700 teachers are eligible to vote in the polls, which will begin at 8am and will last till 4pm.
Two groups are participating in the elections. The Teacher’s Front Academic Alliance (TFAA) has nominated Dr Mahboob Hussain for president, while the Teacher’s Alliance has nominated Dr Asmatullah for the same position.
On Monday, TFAA organised a flag march in various departments of the varsity. The march was headed by Dr Sajid Rashid, Dr Shazia Qureshi, Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori and Dr Mahboob Hussain. More than 150 teachers participated in the march.
Earlier, the faculty at PU was split into two when TFAA claimed an unopposed victory in the elections. The Teachers’ Alliance, on the other hand, announced elections to nominate a teachers’ representative body on April 10. Both sides came to an agreement and decided that the elections will instead be held on April 3.
