A high school student in Haryana’s Jind district was found dead after she shot herself with a gun licensed to her father on Sunday, reported by Hindustan Times.

Identified as the daughter of Sarpanj Vedpal Singh of Siwaha Village, Anjali was a student at the Indus Public School which is currently under the management of Captain Abhimanyu, the finance minister of Haryana.

On Saturday, Anjali discovered upon receiving her class 11 results that she did notscore the highest as she had expected. “Her parents told us she did not score fewer marks, but could not come first as she had expected. This had made her upset,” reported Officer Raj Kumar, the investigation officer appointed to the case.

He added that her parents received a call from her during their visit to a nearby village requesting them to return immediately.

When they reached, however, Anjali had already shot herself and was found in the bathroom. Her family took her to a hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival.  The family was handed over the body after postmortem.
