Malala, family leave for UK after four days in Pakistan

She left from Benazir International Airport amidst tight security

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and her family left for the United Kingdom from Benazir International Airport Monday morning, Express News reported.

The Nobel laureate, during her four-day visit, met with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. She also went to her hometown of Swat and visited her old school.

Strict security was witnessed as the youngest Noble laureate departed the country, with unauthorised personnel from the restricted from the airport's premises.

Malala landed in Islamabad on Thursday, after spending nearly six years abroad and her arrival was kept secret due to security reasons.



Malala Yousafzai broke down in tears in Islamabad on Thursday while recounting how much she had missed Pakistan since moving abroad for treatment and education.

Malala was on her way home in a school van when she and her class fellows were shot. She was hit in the head, but survived the attack and was airlifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), Rawalpindi, where she had several surgeries before she was flown to the UK for advanced treatment.
