The drive started with an awareness walk in Nathiagali, which was largely attended by notables of the area, community mobilisers, youth, tourists and GDA officials besides office bearers of trade organisations.
They also removed garbage from some places and cleared the roads and paths in the different parts of Nathiagali.
DG Kuneez Sughra while talking at the occasion said that K-P government has initiated the clean environment campaign in the province which will be participated by the all the Tehsil Municipal Administrations, Water and Sanitation Authorities and local governments in the K-P. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third positions holders and cash awards will also be given by the government.
She said that different programmes have been planned during three months which includes, planting at least hundred thousand saplings, poster competitions, tourists awareness campaign, distribution of hand bills and pamphlets for the keeping Galiyat neat and clean.
Sughra said GDA management is committed to provide neat and clean atmosphere to the visiting tourists.
She further said that GDA will levy fine on people who litter and violate the rules the authority has set to maintain the greenery of the area intact so as to ensure a clean environment to the visitors.
Special teams will monitor the campaign in the area, she said adding special arrangements will be made to remove the garbage from different collection points for which GDA will arrange vehicles.
