Tipu Truckanwala murder case: Interpol arrests key suspect in Dubai

LAHORE: The prime suspect in Tipu Truckanwala murder case has been arrested from Dubai by the Interpol.

According to sources, Shahbaz Sain was arrested by Interpol officials in Dubai. He is a prime suspect in the killing of Arif Ameer, alias Tipu Truckanwala, a business man and alleged underworld don.

Truckanwala was critically injured when assailants opened fire at him in the parking area of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in 2010. He was moved to a nearby hospital where he breathed his last.

Another key suspect, Khurram Ejaz Butt was given capital punishment by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in 2011.

A year later, Mian Asif, a witness in the murder case was shot dead in the Tibbi area. Police said he was sitting outside his house when unidentified men on a motorcylce opened fire at him.

In 2015, an anti-terrorism court sentenced a suspect in Truckanwala’s murder to sixty years in prison. Ameer’s prosecution had claimed that Ahsan had aided the murder by providing arms and conveyance.
