Warne faces complaint over ‘abuse’: report

KARACHI:

Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne was mired in trouble after a complaint was lodged with the Indian Premier League (IPL) about his alleged abusive behaviour, said reports.

Warne was involved in a bust-up with Sanjay Dixit, secretary of the Rajasthan state cricket association, following his team’s defeat at home to Bangalore. The incident took place minutes after the post-match prize distribution ceremony.

“Venue director Narendra Joshi has written to IPL’s chief operating officer Sunder Raman, alleging that Warne had publicly abused Dixit,” said the Press Trust of India.

Warne was apparently upset over the playing surface that was selected for Rajasthan’s last two matches against Chennai and Bangalore.

Royals thrashed by RCB

There was no good news for Rajasthan Royals in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore either when they were crushed by nine wickets.

A whirlwind 44-ball 70 by Chris Gayle helped Bangalore chase down the 147-run target in 17 overs. The opener put on 68 with Tillakaratne Dilshan before finishing the job with captain Virat Kohli.

Warne took the only wicket to fall and conceded 26 runs off his quota of four overs.

Earlier, Shane Watson and Rahul Dravid gave Rajasthan a good start before Sreenath Aravind claimed three wickets to dent their hopes of a competitive total.  While Rajasthan lost their sixth game in 12 matches, Bangalore registered their seventh win in 11 games. (WITH ADDITIONAL INPUT BY AFP)
