Return of Malala: Swat welcomes its native daughter

Vows to return upon completion of her education abroad

PESHAWAR: It was a tumultuous and sentimentally turbulent homecoming and emotions were running high as Pakistan’s and probably the world’s most famous Nobel laureate and education activist Malala Yousufzai returned to her native Swat.

Overwhelmed with joy, Malala declared that she was very happy that she was finally home and Swat was the most beautiful place in the world.

She vowed to return upon completion of her education abroad. The young activist was addressing students of Cadet College, Swat.

Malala was transported to Swat in a helicopter which landed in Circuit House from where she went straight to the Khapal Kor Foundation. She then went to Khushal School.



Afterwards, she visited her residence in her village where she broke down in tears upon reuniting with friends and relatives.

Visibly moved and joyous Malala met her family members and friends as well as class fellows after a lapse of almost six years. Later she visited the Swat Cadet College where she met the students and said that she was happy that she was visiting Swat which was the most beautiful place in the world.

Malala was accompanied by her parents, information minister and others. There were strict security arrangements in place for her visit.
