Imran waits to lock horns with PML-N in 2018 elections

Says Sharif family has destroyed institutions and is now after ECP

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said that the development work of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stopped because the Supreme Court of Pakistan has banned the advertisement of development in the province.

Khan continued to criticise the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on the second and final day of his party's membership campaign in Lahore. He visited camps set by activists and workers of PTI at Thokar Niaz Beg, Youhanabad, Jinnah Chowk, Akbar Chowk, Dubai Chowk and Sadar Cantt as part of the drive.

While addressing the public at Thokar Niaz Beg, he said Nawaz Sharif raised questions in his Swat speech about their development projects, especially the Billion Tree Project in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). He asked the public and his activists to get their votes registered for next election and also fully prepare for April 29 rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.

He said that not everyone was as fraudulent as the Sharif family and it was because of the K-P police that Nawaz was able to deliver a speech in Swat. Khan added that the government of K-P fought the menace of terrorism in the province by reforming the police department.



He said that Lahore was a city known for its historical buildings and cultural heritage. “Sharif brothers had turned it into a concrete jungle. Its historical importance has been completely destroyed by them,” he added.

PTI chairman claimed to bring greenery back to Lahore after winning the 2018 elections and said, “A country could not progress whose former prime minister, current prime minister and other ministers were involved in corruption.”

He also the Sharif family for destroying the institutions and added that they attacked the Supreme Court. “Now their two leaders were attacking the election commission of Pakistan,” said Khan as he expressed the desire to build institutions after forming the government.

Speaking at Jinnah Chowk, Khan said that nations which spent on the welfare of people make progress. “They first spent on health, education and other human needs,” he said.

He said that despite spending billions of rupees every year in Punjab, the Sharif brothers were unable to establish good hospitals and would go abroad for their own check-ups.



Khan, referring to the Billion Tree Project, said the Punjab government had destroyed trees in Lahore, jungles in Changa Manga, Kundian, Mianwali, and Chichawatni. He added that PTI’s government in K-P has grown up 40 Changa Mangas during its tenure and would do the same in Punjab after winning the elections.

The PTI chairman wished the Christian community a Happy Easter while speaking at Youhanabad. He said that his leader Quaid-e-Azam had formed Pakistan to protect the rights of the minorities. “In Naya Pakistan, the minorities will be protected, said Khan and added that it was tragic that there was no hospital and school in Youhanabad.

While speaking on the Akbar Chowk, he said that Shehbaz Sharif was the most corrupt person and that his annual provincial budget of Rs650 billion “did not reform a single department.”

He claimed the Sharifs would send the money abroad through money-laundering and were becoming rich day by day while the public was becoming poorer.



Khan at the Dubai Chowk said that when he was growing up, Pakistan was developing at such a fast pace that rest of the world would copy its economic plans and Pakistan’s passport had a lot of respect. “Now we are destroyed and have no respect in the world,” he said and held the politicians who he referred to as mafias responsible for the poor state of the country.

Imran Khan said that he would free the people from the political mafia in the 2018 elections. He added that he had been waiting for this match since last 19 years. “We will defeat all these thieves in 2018 by blowing all their wickets and create a Naya Pakistan,” Khan concluded.
