Two days after a rare meeting between the top judge and prime minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan said on Thursday that Premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi must have begged Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to save Nawaz Sharif through another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
Addressing a press conference with Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in Quetta, Imran accused the premier of working on a one-point agenda of protecting "Nawaz Sharif's theft."
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been organising rallies following Nawaz's disqualification as the prime minister as well as the party's chief since July last year.
JIT conveyed through phone to make its own decision over Qatari letter: Zia
According to Imran, PM Abbasi is striving to save an individual who has stolen billions of rupees and lies constantly. He added that it was for the first time in the country's history that the PM had refused to accept the judiciary’s verdict.
The PTI chief added that Nawaz had been trying to make the nation fool by quoting Joint Investigation Team (JIT) chief Wajid Zia that his name had not appeared anywhere in [the the inquiry relating to] London flats and offshore companies case.
In reality, he added, Maryam is being tried in these cases and the question arises; where did she accumulate those billions? On Senate elections, Imran said that not letting a PPP or PML-N candidate as the chairman was a major victory, and termed it positive for Balochistan.
