QUETTA: The Government Teachers Association, Balochistan on Wednesday organised a protest rally and staged a sit-in at the main intersection of Quetta leading to the Governor House and Chief Minister’s Secretariat, demanding a pay raise and other benefits.

The police, however, put up barricades on the road leading to the secretariat, to prevent the protesters from besieging it. Hundreds of teachers marched across the city, starting from Shahwak Shah Road, demanding pay raise.

Addressing the protestors, president of the association Haji Abdul Ghafur said the government was not paying any heed to the teachers’ demands.
