RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has imposed a ban on the sale of energy and carbonated drinks at several educational institutions in the area lying within its jurisdiction.

The decision was based on advice by various health experts which termed the consumption of energy and carbonated drinks as detrimental to the health of children, hence it was vital to protect them from such substances.

The RCB has thus urged all educational institutions in the area to immediately halt the sale of any energy or carbonated drinks in their cafeterias.

Furthermore, they also emphasised that students should not be allowed to bring carbonated drinks from home either and that this health hazard should be eliminated altogether from the school premises.

The order is in line with a decision made by lawmakers in Senate where a resolution was passed calling for a ban on the sale and consumption of these drinks in schools.
