Degree dilemmas: Twenty years and still waiting for a certificate

A woman has failed to procure a matriculation degree certificate after two decades of successfully having completed her course.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Faisalabad have failed to provide Shazia Gulnar, who appeared for the FBISE matriculation exams in 1990 with her matric certificate. Gulnar told reporters that she had made repeated trips to the bursars office as well as to her college to seek her degree but had been turned away each time.  “It’s been twenty years. I am married now and have kids but I still don’t have a matric certificate,” Gulnar said. Shazia Gulnar, daughter of Yaqeenud Din, appeared in the FBISE examination under Roll No51069 in the spring of 1990 was declared successful after securing 458 marks. Gulnar said that she was issued a provisional result card but was never offered her degree. “They kept telling me that someone would deal with my degree and that I shouldn’t worry,” she said. “I have spent years going from one board office to another to get this certificate but everyone I meet makes an excuse, she said.
