The students of Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC) sorganised a fun carnival on Tuesday, sponsored by J’s Emporium. Different institutes participated in the event, which was thoroughly enjoyed by both the organisers and visitors. Different stalls displaying footwear, traditional dress, gem and food, garments and jewellery attracted a large number of people. A Bar-B-Q was also set up outside the hall.
Khyber Medical College Vice-Chancellor and well-known cardiologist, Prof Dr Hafeezullah was the chief guest on the occasion. Talking to media, he said such events should be organised regularly as they help refresh the mind.
An organiser, Tauseef Ismail, said that the event aims at providing the youth a platform to demonstrate their skills as well as an outlet for the local traders to promote their products.
The students also appreciated the event as it provided them the much-needed break from their hectic schedules. Mahwish, a student, said that extracurricular activities help in reducing stress levels. Isha, an MBBS student acknowledged the efforts of the college for arranging the festival and hoped that such events will be arranged in the future. Hamad Khan, a stallholder, said he had enjoyed meeting with old friends “I am having a lot of fun.”
Local musical bands including 2 Dee’s and Deadly Combination performed live in the festival and were applauded by the students. Agriculture University, Institute of Management Studies and Khyber Medical University also participated in the festival.
