Pakistan flag unveiled 5,577 feet above sea level in Balochistan

National standard now adorns province ridge

KARACHI: An illuminated national flag now ornaments the Jandran Ridge in Kohlu, Balochistan.

The flag, measuring 300x200 feet approximately and located 5,577 feett above sea-level, was raised on Thursday in connection with March 23 celebrations. The day is celebrated to commemorate the passing of the 1940 Lahore Resolution by the All-India Muslim League.

Earlier, nationwide celebrations kicked off with a joint military parade near Islamabad’s Shakarparian Hills. Troops marched past and fighter jets presented a fly past. Floats representing myriad cultures of Pakistan were also displayed.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran.  President Mamnoon Hussain observed the parade from a jeep. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, the guest of honour, was also present.
